It is in my experience customary to write a new member message to introduce oneself when one joins a community, especially a forum. I am not completely sure where the best place to post such a message is. I am taking a guess at this forum here, and I trust that if it's the wrong place, I will be told so and the thread will be moved to a more appropriate location.
That said, I'm 32 years old and live in Sweden. This community was recommended to me by my good friend of a few years, and colleague, Gorhaut. After checking out the Announcements - Required Reading, I have found that this community by the looks of it is everything that Gorhaut made it out to be. I especially agree with the principles of the ethos - a very good concept, to the letter.
In any case if I am welcome, I would be thrilled to try out some gaming with you as soon as possible. Refreshing, to say the least, to get rid of the days of being told you're a "noob" (to me, that's a noob expression, btw) by adolescent people with inferiority complexes simply because they managed to get a head-shot.
I am willing to answer all questions imaginable if you have them.
Best regards,
Thaum

Welcome
What's your gaming history, what games ? PC ? any console ? any talking gameplaying ?
You have arrived at a good time, Red Orchestra 2 is released in 3 weeks and looks to be a strong teamplay game with talking teamwork !

Oh, I have a bit of gaming history. I guess I have age enough to have played Doom back in the days at our youth center. But the games that really got me stuck at online play were Quake (1 and 2). Back then I enjoyed gaming, simply because it was a somewhat friendly community. We were all HPB (High Ping B******s), because we all had 56k modems and played with a 200+ ms latecy. I remember when my friend had his first cable modem, as one of the first in Sweden. OMG! He had a latency under 20 to some servers.
Anyway, I had other interests for a while, and when I got back, the thing to play was CounterStrike. What a difference in attitude. What happened was basically, people were calling each other "noobs" everywhere. I'm my days, it was called "newbie". That's the potential friend that had no clue, so we educated him (or her) so that the newbie could be a productive part of the gaming community. When I got back, everyone had seemed to forgotten that. Now they blurted out "n00b" as some sort of general insult, AND a statement of disdain, and an exclaim of success, and just about everything else.
To be honest, after that I haven't played all that much online. Mostly LANing, particularily DM games like UT of all variations.
I did have a few years of WoWing, however, and that taught me to cooperate in tactical group play during raids, and I think I have an idea of how TeamSpeak works, unless they totally revamped it and it doesn't look remotely like it did a few years ago.
So, as soon as I get my a new headset, I'm ready and up for most things. I will have to wait for Red Orchestra, however, because my financial status at the moment is less than great to say the least, so I will have to choose one game to buy.
Oh, and I haven't really had a console since NES. Never been my arena. I preferred FIFA on PC, playing guitar or pen-and-paper RPGs, or watching football with friends instead.
Any friend of Gorhaut is a friend of mine :)
You are more than welcome to join us in our endevours here at S7
I look forward to gaming with you buddy :)
BTW, people who calll others "noobs" here at S7 will have an exceptionaly small life span here at S7 :)
Hi Thaum! From your post I'd say you found the right place. :)
Välkommen! :)
Hey there Thaum (you just had to pick a new name for me to keep track of now did you? :p). Fast movement, you can't have waited many minutes after our conversation before checking the site out - well done sire! Feel free to pop in on ts with or without a microphone. At the moment we are playing a varied mix of minor games while waiting for Red Orchestra 2 (RO2).
Ohh, and welcome :)

Tjenare Thaum! ;) And welcome to S7 and our teamwork oriented gaming! ;) Like you said, S7 is very well explained in the ethos. We're basically into whatever gaming that has teamwork elements in it, but preferably with VOIP and tactics as well.
But i think you'll fit right in here if you're similar minded towards gaming like Gorhaut. Be sure to check out RO2 which looks fantastic! So hope to catch you online soon.
Hello Thaumiel and welcome. Always nice to see a fellow scandinavian here. Join us ingame and in TS even if you dont have a mic.
See you in the battlefield!

See you in game!
Welcome! Friend of Gorhaut, I hope Gorhaut told you that Friday is "Beer Night" or what ever you prefer to drink. ;)
Maybe it should be called Drunk night?

Hello there Thaum :)
Very nice to see you here. I think we are a great bunch of people here - and from what i read in your posts, you seem to fit in very nicely :)
I personally have allways taken issue with the "n**b"-term and things associated along with it. So it will not be tollerated here as it clearly goes against what we're trying to achive here.
You are more than welcome to drop by on TS (even if you dont have a mic). Once you're ready to jump into some gaming-action, dont be a stranger and join right in :D
cya online soon I hope!
Welcome Thaumiel. Like mojay sayd:"friday night, drink night".
Drink early ander play late. :D
so we educated him (or her) so that the newbie could be a productive part of the gaming community.
:D Welcome aboard the great ship awesome!
I think I have an idea of how TeamSpeak works, unless they totally revamped it and it doesn't look remotely like it did a few years ago.
It still works in the same manner :)
I preferred FIFA on PC, playing guitar or pen-and-paper RPGs, or watching football with friends instead.
A man by my own heart, gotta love FIFA!
